It can only be imagined by those of us who weren't there, what it must have been like, what it must have felt like, and what it must have sounded like, to hear for the very first time, the voices of David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, come together into what has become the familiar three-part harmonies that are instantly recognisable too many. We'd heard the individual voices with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and The Hollies, indeed if you were at all familiar with the music of The Hollies, you already knew the voice of Graham Nash, the combining of his and the voice of Hollies lead singer, Allan Clarke, was familiar on both sides of the Atlantic. And if you were familiar with The Byrds, you knew the combination of the voices of Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Chris Hillman and Gene Clarke. Stephen Stills voice was familiar to many through a song that had become an anthem for many, the Buffalo Springfield's For What Its Worth.

This is, then, the beginning of a look at Crosby, Stills and Nash and at the three bands that produced them, all under the collective title of The Legacy. The Byrds Legacy, Buffalo Springfield and The Hollies Legacy are the three component parts that we will begin with, three separate websites, which will, of course be linked together, plus three individual web pages on two other websites that will act as an over-view to the project as a whole.

Its ambitious, yes, but in the end it comes down to this, its a small thank you note to three incredibly talented musicians, sometimes joined by a fourth, Neil Young (more of whom, as we go along), who have provided and continue to provide so much listening pleasure. David, Stephen, Graham and Neil; Thank You.

May the road never fail you, and to quote a song title,

Long May You Run!

a very colourful and
informative CSN/CSNY
